New Year's Eve - Sunday, December 31st
2024 is almost here - it's time to celebrate all the fabulous times we had in 2023! And what better place to do so than Post 129! So plan on celebrating the New Year with us here. We always have a great time. This year is shaping up to be even better and we can't wait to celebrate the end of this year with you all!
In the Freedom Hall we are extremely excited to announce that we will have the karaoke with Doug Bracey and in the Liberty Hall we have the Matt Altman Band. This is going to be a a great time! With this stellar entertainment like this I promise there is no where else you will want to be!
Remember there will NOT be a cover charge. We like to throw what we call no fuss parties for New Years Eve. Great Entertainment, Simple Decorations, and Wonderful Friends. What more can you ask for?

Christmas Day Pot Luck - Monday, December 25th
We will be holding a Christmas Day pot luck starting at 1 pm. Turkey and Ham will be provided and we are asking that you all bring a side or appetizer to share. There is a sign up sheet in the Freedom Hall so you can let us know what you are bringing and so we don't have to many duplicates.

Mark Your Calendars - All kids under the age of 10 years old are invited to join us for the Auxiliary's Annual Children's Christmas Party on Saturday, December 16th. Sign up is available in both the Freedom and Liberty Hall. Older children are welcome to attend the party and enjoy lunch, cookie decoration and the younger ones.

Angel Tree - Deadline December 14th
The Angel Tree is here again. Help us make Christmas wonderful for local families in need. .
If you would like to help local families please visit out Angel tree in the Freedom Hall. Pick an ornament from our tree with a child's name and gift request and let the bartender know who you have chosen so they can mark it on the list. Please bring back your gift wrapped with angel attached by December 14th and give to Brandi or Tori.

District Meeting at POst 129 - Sunday, December 10th
Post 129 is honored to be hosting the District meeting here in at Post 129 on Sunday, December 10th. Not only will the other local Post's officers be here but the Department Commander and Auxiliary Department President will also be here for a visit.
Toys for Tots Drop Off Deadline December 8th
Post 129 is proud to be a drop off location for 19th Street Charities toy drive. They are once again working with the Marines to raise funds/or provide unwrapped toys/gifts for boys and girls (toddlers up to teenagers) for Toys for Tots.
Donations can be dropped off in the donation box in the Freedom Hall or Liberty Hall. Deadline for donations/gifts is Dec. 8th. We have just a over a week this year to fill those donation boxes. If you do not have time to shop we understand. You can always go online and purchase a toy and have it shipped to the Post. Just let us know if you do and we will make sure it gets in the donation box.

Auxiliary December Fundraiser - Friday, December 1st
The Auxiliary is holding their December fundraiser on the 1st of December. This is great event full of wonderful raffles and silent auctions.
They will be raffling off over 20 items on December 1st. Tickets are only available at the event so be sure to come join in on the fun. Tickets for the raffle are only $1 for one or $5 for six tickets.

Thanksgiving Dinner - Thursday, NOvember 23rd
We will be hosting Thanksgiving dinner again this year. Dinner will be served from noon to 4 pm. Cost is only $17 per person, but must be paid at the time of sign up. You must sign up in advance. Sign up sheet is behind the bar in the Freedom Hall. Dinner will be served buffet style. Dinner includes the following.
Roasted Turkey (White and Dark Meat), Bourbon and Orange Glazed Ham, Carved Whole Roast New York Sirloin, Mixed Green Salad, Whipped Potatoes, Sage Dressing, Stewed Apples, Vegetables, Assorted Rolls and Breads, and a Variety of Desserts.

Auxiliary Craft Show - Saturday, November 4th
The Auxiliary craft fairs is coming together. The date has been set for November 4th. Applications are available in the hallway at the Post and also on our website at the link below. This event fills up fast so be sure to reserve your table soon.

Join us for our annual Halloween party Saturday, October 28th in the Liberty Hall. Kenny Holiday will be here to entertain us starting at 7 pm. So mark your calendars this is a night you don't want to miss.

Chili Cook-Off - Sunday, October 8th
The ALR will be holding a Chili Cook Off in the Liberty Hall on Sunday, October 8th from 2 pm to 4 pm. The cost to enter is only $10, and the top three participates win prizes. For those of you that just want to come and eat chili the cost is only $7 and you will get to vote for your favorite chili to help determine the winners.

September Raffle - SAL
September is the month for the SAL raffle. They have put together a Hurricane Season raffle prize of a 4,000-Watt/3,500-Watt recoil start gasoline powered portable generator and other the hurricane essentials like water, beer and duct tape.

Sons & Salts Oyster Roast - Saturday, September 23rd
Mark your calendars. The SAL and the VLSC are joining forces to bring you a Oyster Roast on Saturday, September 23rd. The cost is only $25 for all you can eat. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will be available in both halls starting on this Friday.

Auxiliary Wing NIght - Saturday, September 16th
The Auxiliary will be hosting Wing Night on Saturday, September 16th. This is benefit for the Children's Christmas Party. Wings are only $10 for ten wings. Wings will be available in Garlic Parmesan, Texas Pete's Hot Sauce, Mild Buffalo Sauce and BBQ.

Bingo Tournament - Monday, August 21st
Join us on Tuesday, June 21st at 615 pm for our Tornado Bingo Tournament. This is our way of saying thank you to our regular players for all of your support and play over the years. This will be a free event to join and prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. You must be a Legion member in good standing to play. Sign up in advance on the board in the main canteen
School Supply Drive - Month of July
The ARL is holding a school supply drive for the month of July. All donations can be placed in the bin in the Liberty Hall area located near the stage. Donation will be given to local beaches schools.
Please help them ensure that the children in our community have the essentials to learn and succeed in school.

Baseball Outing - Sunday, July 16th
We could not be more excited to announce that we will be going on a baseball outing on Sunday, July 16th to see the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
Price for the outing is $25 this year and includes the ticket to the game and transportation to the game. Space is limited as we will only be taking one bus so be sure to sign up early. Sign up is on the board in the Freedom Hall.

Installation - SATURDAY, July 8th
On Saturday, July 8th we will be holding our annual installation of new officers in the Liberty Hall at 4 pm. All members are encouraged to attend the installation.

Survey Says - Saturday, June 24th
Mark your calendars and plan on joining us for our first night of Survey Says in the Liberty Hall. This is a fun "Family Feud" style game. But don't worry you are not required to go up on stage. This is played kind of like trivia where you talk about answer with your team and then submit your answer in writing to the host. Plan on joining us - this is going to be a great time!
Wreaths Across American Bicycle Crawl - Saturday, June 17th
Join us on Saturday, June 17th for the Wreaths Across American Bicycle Pub Crawl. The ride will start at end here at Post 129. The ride will hit Graffiti Burger, Mangos, The Tavern, Gingers, and VFW 3270. The cost to join is only $20 per bike and includes dinner. There is a prize for the best decorated bicycle. So mark your calendars and plan on joining in on the fun.
Memorial Day Weekend
Volunteers needed on Saturday, May 27th at 8 am to place flags at Warren Smith cemetery to honor our Veterans. Volunteers also needed on Tuesday, May 30th at 8 am to pick flags up.
We will also be part of the service at the Beaches Veterans Memorial Park on Monday, May 29th at 9 am. All members are encouraged to attend.

3rd Annual Night at the Races - Saturday, May 6th
Night at the races is coming back to Post 129! So mark you calendars and plan on joining us for the Kentucky Derby and our Night at the Races fundraiser on Saturday, May 6th. This is an event you will not want to miss.

New Dart League - Tuesday, May 2nd
New dart league is starting May 2nd in the Liberty Hall. Registration is at 630 pm, regular play is at 7 pm. Dart league is always looking for new players to come and join the fun.
Opening of the Beaches PArade - Sunday, April 30th
We are incredibly excited for the return of the Jacksonville Beach Opening of the Beaches Parade! Please join us on April 30 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM to watch the parade. If you would like to walk with us please be at the pier parking lot by 130 pm.
The event, a community favorite, is sure to bring a day of fun in the sun and help us usher in the summer season in beautiful Jacksonville Beach.

Sue is back at it again! She will be teaching line dancing class starting on April 24th in the Liberty Hall at 7 pm. So mark your calendars and come join the fun.
Drink Prices Increase - April 17th
It is after careful consideration that we inform you of the Post's decision to raise drink prices effective Monday, April 17th.
Drinks will increase by .50 cents, with a few exceptions. Please note that this is the first increase for over three years but unfortunately we can no longer absorb the increased costs. We appreciate your understanding and are confident that you will still find our prices more than competitive.

Legion Elections - 2023/2024
The Legion elections are coming up for the 2023-2024 year. If you would like to volunteer to become an officer please reach out to your organization, they are always looking for people who want to get involved. And of course please be sure to show up and vote.

Cabane March Raffle - March 31st, 2023
The Cabane is raffling off a Date Night basket. Basket includes a $50 gift card to Longhorn and Cinemark Movie Theater plus wine, glasses and delicious chocolate. Tickets are 1 for $1, 6 for $5 or $10 for 13. Winner will be drawn on March 31st. You do not need to be present to win.

Legion Post 129 and our community for a walk, party, and a day of camaraderie to help End Veteran Suicides.
With your support, we had a great time while we raised $15,000 to fund veteran suicide prevention programs –
while increasing awareness of a tragic epidemic of 22 suicides per day due to PTSD.
Also, thanks to all the booth exhibitors and walkers, who registered and paid $22 to join our walk and honor the
22 lives that are taken every day due to veteran suicide.
We had day of fun, with music provided by the Matt Altman Band, along with food trucks, vendors and guest speakers – followed by raffles, silent auctions and other activities at American Legion Post 129 after the event.

I am so excited that we are bringing this event to the Post next month. If you haven't made it out to First Coast Comedy yet, or never seen a improv comedy show no worries!

This will be a full improv comedy show, meaning the show is based entirely on your suggestions. The trained comedy professionals have no plan and willingly dive headfirst into almost any challenge the audience will throw at them, resulting in unforgettably hilarious moments.

Paint Night - Monday, March 13th
Paint night is back by popular demand. Cheryl is bringing in some St Patrick day creative fun. Painting starts at 7 pm in Liberty Hall. Cost is only $20 for adults and $10 for kids. Mark your calendars and plan on joining us.
ALR Bike Raffle - Tuesday, February 28th
The ALR will be raffling off two beaches cruisers this month. The bikes were purchased by one of our members last year, with the best of intentions, but were never used. They have generously donated them to the ALR for the raffle this month. Be sure to grab your tickets for this month for your chance to win.
6th Annual Casino Night - Saturday, February 25th
Mark your calendars for the 6th annual ALR Casino night coming up on February 25th. Cost is only $35 per person and includes admission, BBQ dinner and $300 in play money. Tickets for this event always sell out so be sure to with any ALR member soon to reserve your tickets.

The Legion will be making a special Valentines dinner on Tuesday, February 14th. They will be serving up steak with mushrooms and onions, loaded baked potato, garlic bread and dessert for only $14. Super Bowl Party - Sunday, FEBRUARY 12th
Join us for our annual Super Bowl on Sunday, February 12th. We will be providing hot dogs, chili and chips. No charge for the event - we just ask that everyone brings their favorite tailgate snack to share.

6th Annual Shut Up and Drink TOur - Sunday, FEBRUARY 5th
The Shut up and Drink Tour is Back!!! As always the event will take place on the Sunday before Super Bowl which this year is February 5th. We will make three stops this year. The route is still being planned but it is looking like Post 137, 88 and 283.
Cost is only $25 per person and includes the transportation from the Post, shirt and pizza after the tour. There is only one bus this year so if you are planning on joining us now is the time to sign up. Sign up is available in the Freedom Hall bulletin board.
