Hurricane RELIEF fundraiser
Most residents of any beach community know first hand how destructive a hurricane can be. Whether it's a direct hit or your community is near the path the damage left in the wake can be devastating. Although overall the beaches area was spared in what could have been a devastating hit not all of Florida was so lucky.
Whereas Harvey’s most severe destruction was concentrated in one contiguous area around Houston, Irma seems to have left pockets of ruin scattered in a totally unpredictable pattern throughout Florida. Jacksonville is said to have had the most severe flood since 1864. It was not the wind and the rain on their own that wreaked havoc on Jacksonville, but the storm surge.
Let's us the residents of the beaches area band together and raise funds to help those most in need.

September is Hurricane relief Month at Post 129

Donation center for Hurricane Irma Relief
Please note that as of Sept 25th, 2017 all supplies that were collected were DISTRIBUTED to those affected by hurricane irma in Florida. The center is closed. Thank you to all who donated.
Over the weekend, Ocean Beaches American Legion Post 129 opened a Hurricane Irma Distribution Center for supplies. The center will be open from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm Monday thru Sunday from now until October 15. This distribution center is for ANYONE that was affected by Hurricane Irma. You do not have to be a veteran to take advantage of this center.
If you would like to donate items to help others, you can and are encouraged to. We are being asked for everything from pet food, to personal items like toothbrushes and toothpaste. Cleaning supplies, canned food, new underwear and socks, non-perishable food, children's items and anything that most of us take for granted every day. Post commanders are saying: "about the only thing we do not need is clothing". Two trucks were sent from the center out to the very hard hit area of Middleberg over the weekend.

Open HOuse - Saturday, September 30th
Save the date Saturday, September 30th is going to be extremely busy at Post 129. We start the day with the blood drive at noon.
At 3 pm the afternoon festivities begin. We will have entertainment by Pat Rose from 3 pm to 5 pm. Also starting at 3 pm the SAL will begin their Jail n Bail Fundraiser. We encourage you to participate by having someone mock arrested for charges such as “aging too well,” “impersonating a golfer,” or the most committed violation of “Failure to yield at the end of a sentence .” Once the jailbird is arrested, a judge will review the warrant and set bail based upon the charges that the snitch alleges. Next, the jailbird will be placed in a “jail cell” and will call friends and family members to
make donations and must “raise bail” in order to be released.
The ALR will also be holding a no run dice run during the event starting at 4 pm. So be sure to stop by their table and try your luck. Though the day we will be 50/50 raffle tickets, and more all to raise funds for the Hurricane Relief Fund.
Once the auction is over we will celebrate a job well done by a beach community that came together to support another beach community. We'll sit back, grab a drink, dance and enjoy the entertainment from 7 pm to 10 pm by Bob and Diane Pratt.
