Many restaurants require that active-duty military members be in uniform, and almost all require that anyone requesting the deal present military identification. Call your local restaurant to see what is required.
Free Rides on JTA for veterans Day
Complimentary rides for Veterans on Veterans Day (November 11). Customers provide proper identification when boarding to receive complimentary rides on all JTA bus routes, the First Coast Flyer Bus Rapid Transit, and the St. Johns River Ferry.

Purple Heart Day Ceremony - Tuesday, August 8th
The annual Purple Heart Day Ceremony will be held August 6th at 6:00 P.M. at the Veterans Memorial Wall (1145 E. Adams St). You are invited to attend and honor the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. Following the event, all attendees are invited to walk the ceremonial Purple Heart Trail. This event is open to the public and parking is free. All those who have been awarded the Purple Heart are especially encouraged to attend and be recognized.
Please inform the parking attendant that you are attending the Purple Heart Day Ceremony to avoid being charged for parking.

Military Appreciation Day at Adventure Landing - Thursday, July 25th
Adventure Landing is holding militarty appreciation day on Thursday, July 25th. Wrist bands must be bought in advance at the USO. Please contact USO for additional details.
Free National Park Service Lifetime Access Pass for Disabled Veterans
Many Veterans, with a service connected disability rating, are entering Federal parks for free with the Lifetime National Parks Access Pass from the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. The Access Pass also admits disabled any passengers in their vehicle, and other discounts such as camping, swimming, board launching, and guided tours.

Florida's Largest Freedom & Beer Run - Saturday, June 29th
Join us for the run Uncle Sam would have wanted on Saturday, June 29th on the Riverfront in Downtown Jacksonville FL.
Run or walk the river walk like the Redcoats were coming complete with a Halfway Bacon Station, Food Trucks, Live Entertainment and More.
Registration includes race bib and timing chip, the official 2019 race t-shirt, custom medal with beer opener, two beers & bacon during the race + more. There will be awards for the top three overall M/F and age group awards too! Jacksonville Sharks MILITARY APPRECIATION Night - May 18th
Each season, the Sharks hold Military Appreciation Night, dedicating one game to honoring our local military personnel. Each year, the team generates donations for a military organization through a number of initiatives highlighted by a Post game Jersey Auction, during which Shark fans are able to bid on the unique camouflage jerseys worn by the Sharks during that night's game. Other initiatives include Attack Dance Team Military Posters and Military T-Shirts, which are available in exchange for a nominal donation. The Sharks will use the funds generated during Military Appreciation Night to support Veteran Tickets Foundation.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 9, 2019 – Mayor Lenny Curry and the City of Jacksonville are looking to honor local survivors of the D-Day/Normandy invasions at this year’s annual City of Jacksonville Memorial Day ceremony. (The 75th anniversary of the invasion is just days after Memorial Day 2019.)
If you are, or know any of the brave individuals that served and fought in Normandy who currently live in our area, please reach out to either of the emails below with contact information. We would be honored to host them.
The event to honor these individuals will be in addition to and in conjunction with the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Duval County Veterans Memorial Wall on Monday, May 27 at 8:30 am.

This event is open to ACTIVE DUTY, RETIREES, RESERVISTS, NATIONAL GUARD, VETERANS, DOD PERSONNEL, and DEPENDENTS.
Please note that dependent children are NOT authorized to purchase wristbands. Please get your wristbands now, they will not be sold at the venue.
