Virtual Run for hurricane relief
Most residents of any beach community know first hand how destructive a hurricane can be. Whether it's a direct hit or your community is near the path the damage left in the wake can be devastating. Although overall the beaches area was spared in what could have been a devastating hit not all of Florida was so lucky.
Whereas Harvey’s most severe destruction was concentrated in one contiguous area around Houston, Irma seems to have left pockets of ruin scattered in a totally unpredictable pattern throughout Florida. Jacksonville is said to have had the most severe flood since 1864. It was not the wind and the rain on their own that wreaked havoc on Jacksonville, but the storm surge.
Let's us the residents of the beaches area band together and raise funds to help those most in need.
No matter where you live, you can help those in need by participating in our virtual race. A virtual race is a race that can be ran at any location. You can walk, use the treadmill, run outside or participate in another race. You can run your race at your pace wherever you like. You can run or walk it all in one day or split into multiple days.
Choose between the 5k, 10k, half or full marathon and run or walk with us to show that this beach community is here to support! Run your distance anytime during the month of September. Then join us on Saturday, September 30th at Seawalk Pavilion at 9 am as we come together in unity to complete one mile together.
This will not be an official run of any sort. You can walk or run and at any pace you like. This will not be timed or recorded. This is simply one beach community coming together to show support for another beach community.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to those effected by Hurricane Irma.

FAQ's
How does a virtual race work?
Simply register below, complete the distance anytime and anywhere you desire (even on a treadmill!), and then join us on September 30th for the unity walk. We will hand out your finisher’s medal at this event.
Can any one participate?
Yes! Young or old, fast or slow – we encourage participants of all ages and ability levels.
Can I walk? Do I have to complete the distance all at once?
Run or walk all are certainly welcome!
We understand that not everyone is able to complete our minimum 5k distance in one outing. What we are doing here is less about hard rules than it is about raising money for a community in need and maybe provide motivation to help with your personal goals.
So set your goal – whatever that may be – and go out and accomplish it! If that means you need to break up your run into multiple segments, so be it.
What if I can't complete my run during the month of September?
Life happens. We get it. Do what you can during the month or do nothing. It's up to you. This event is about raising fund for a community in need. Join us on September 30th for the unity walk and collect your finishers ribbon. After all you donated and that's all that really matters.
I can't make it to the unity walk on September 30th can I still get my finishers ribbon?
Yes - ribbons can be picked up at the American Legion Post 129 anytime after September 30th just bring a copy of your receipt of donation.
In order to maximize the charitable impact of this race, if you can not make it to the Post and want us to mail the ribbon to you we are asking for a $3 additional donation.
